Publication Guidance

The TLHC is not a journal of legal history. Both discretely legal and historical submissions will be accepted if they demonstrate an ambitious, imaginative, and philosophically-informed argument. For further information, view our ‘Editorial Vision’ or attend an upcoming Q&A presentation.

Submissions should be emailed to editorinchief@trinitylhc.org.

Deadline: January 25th, 2025.

Successful TLHC submissions will be characterised by some of the following:

  • Rigorous engagement with continental philosophy and cultural theory;
  • Willingness to challenge, nuance, or identify established ideas and the foundations
    of Law;
  • Imaginative interdisciplinary analysis;
  • Deconstructive analysis that is accompanied by constructive analysis and the search
    for alternatives.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submissions are accepted from all undergraduates, postgraduates, and recent graduates;
  • College assignments are accepted;
  • Submissions that have been published elsewhere are not accepted;
  • Submissions must be cited in the form Oxford University Standard for Citation of
    Legal Authorities (OSCOLA);
  • Submissions must be written as Gaeilge or in English;
  • Submissions must be between 2,000 and 10,000 words;
  • Submissions must be formatted using
    o 12-point Cambria font,
    o 1.5 spacing,
    o Page numbers,
    o A cover page.

Submissions that are selected for publication will be edited by members of the TLHC board to ensure a high and consistent academic standard.¹ The TLHC does not reject submissions that demonstrate potential on the basis of resolvable stylistic or analytical issues.


¹  All changes made by TLHC editors will be done with the author’s permission as part of a two-way redrafting process.
